How Indovance Assisted Designing And Drafting One Of The Largest Incinerator.

Global economic development and rapid industrialization has resulted in producing huge industrial waste. May it be from Automobile, Chemical, Oil & Energy, Healthcare or Food Processing industries, residual waste is unescapable. Moreover, it is expected to rise with growing industrialization. Hazardous industrial waste could be in solid, liquid or gaseous form and can cause serious problems to environment if came in direct contact with air or water.

But can this wastage be converted into the source of energy? Yes, that’s where the role of an industrial incinerator begins. Incinerator helps destroying the solid, liquid or gaseous waste produced during the manufacturing process by combustion in furnace. It produces hot gases and heat or energy which can be reused in your mainstream production. Indovance Inc, recently helped its client designing one of the world’s largest incinerator. Let’s have a look at the crucial elements in designing process.

Designing one of the largest Incinerator

The waste Incineration system was designed to treat the “tail gases” produced in a petroleum refinery or natural gas plant. Indovance Mechanical engineering team has expertise in designing incinerators ranging in size from 1.0 MMBtu/hr to more than 550 MMBtu/hr. The combustion chamber can range in size from 3.5’ to 30’ diameter.

The Incinerator achieved high destruction efficiencies (DRE) during the process by optimizing the following parameters for each specific process –


Designed the equipment to operate at a temperature that is significantly higher (640-880°C).


Maintaining a minimum residence time between 0.6-2.2 seconds


Ensuring that waste gas is introduced in a manner that results in a homogeneous fully reacted effluent

But understanding and taking care of technical aspect of the design alone is not enough. You must give it a 360° thought for a seamless design.

Critical Aspects of Design


Developing entire incinerator in one piece was a challenge for assorted reasons, one of it being equipment weight.

Lifting points:

To facilitate lifting each piece and then assemble it at the destination would need points where it could be lifted from.

Fabricating Equipment:

Fabricating supportive equipment tools while we install the incinerator.


Transfer of incinerator from the manufacturing to installation site was a challenge. To have a smooth transfer of equipment, hook-up points were predefined at the design level itself.
