Design optimization & analysis of Pressure Vessels

Pressure vessels are widely functional in various industry such as Manufacturing, Aerospace Techniques, Chemical, Nuclear and Power Engineering, Oil and Gas, Oil Refining Industries etc. Pressure Vessels are used to store liquids and gases under high pressures. The pressure applied can be internal or external, regardless of their shape and dimensions. There are 3 most common types of Pressure Vessels Storage Containers – Which are used for storing fluids under pressure Process Vessels – These are the most basic types of pressure vessels, which is used for storage and functioning as well. These include heat exchangers, reactors, fractionating towers, distillation towers, etc. Heat Exchanger – These vessels are normally used in an industry where some substances required to be heat-up to normalize before releasing in environment. The biggest challenge industries face today for drafting and modeling these Pressure Vessels, is the turnaround time. Pressure Vessel industries are highly competitive, and they require instant and absolute precision in work. Other major issue is the medium of communication. The graphical representation of every detail drawing needs to be accurate with industry standards. Let’s discuss more about the technicalities and the types of Pressure Vessels in detail – The Storage Containers as the name suggest, these vessels are used for storing liquids and gases. These are special tanks made with utmost precision to hold hazardous gases. These tanks need to be strong and leak proof to ensure its sustainability. Here are the design aspects considered while designing storage container designed at Indovance for one of its clients. In another project case, Indovance designed a Process Vessel which could also be used as a Heat Exchanger for one of the major Manufacturing Business houses. The design specification was as follow – Moreover, there are many minute details that goes into the designing, drafting and modeling of the Pressure Vessels. These details may vary according to the clients brief and the designing needs. How Indovance Assisted Designing And Drafting One Of The Largest Incinerator.

How Indovance Assisted Designing And Drafting One Of The Largest Incinerator.

Global economic development and rapid industrialization has resulted in producing huge industrial waste. May it be from Automobile, Chemical, Oil & Energy, Healthcare or Food Processing industries, residual waste is unescapable. Moreover, it is expected to rise with growing industrialization. Hazardous industrial waste could be in solid, liquid or gaseous form and can cause serious problems to environment if came in direct contact with air or water. But can this wastage be converted into the source of energy? Yes, that’s where the role of an industrial incinerator begins. Incinerator helps destroying the solid, liquid or gaseous waste produced during the manufacturing process by combustion in furnace. It produces hot gases and heat or energy which can be reused in your mainstream production. Indovance Inc, recently helped its client designing one of the world’s largest incinerator. Let’s have a look at the crucial elements in designing process. Designing one of the largest Incinerator – The waste Incineration system was designed to treat the “tail gases” produced in a petroleum refinery or natural gas plant. Indovance Mechanical engineering team has expertise in designing incinerators ranging in size from 1.0 MMBtu/hr to more than 550 MMBtu/hr. The combustion chamber can range in size from 3.5’ to 30’ diameter. The Incinerator achieved high destruction efficiencies (DRE) during the process by optimizing the following parameters for each specific process – Temperature: Designed the equipment to operate at a temperature that is significantly higher (640-880°C). Time: Maintaining a minimum residence time between 0.6-2.2 seconds Turbulence: Ensuring that waste gas is introduced in a manner that results in a homogeneous fully reacted effluent But understanding and taking care of technical aspect of the design alone is not enough. You must give it a 360° thought for a seamless design. Critical Aspects of Design – Weight: Developing entire incinerator in one piece was a challenge for assorted reasons, one of it being equipment weight. Lifting points: To facilitate lifting each piece and then assemble it at the destination would need points where it could be lifted from. Fabricating Equipment: Fabricating supportive equipment tools while we install the incinerator. Transfer: Transfer of incinerator from the manufacturing to installation site was a challenge. To have a smooth transfer of equipment, hook-up points were predefined at the design level itself. Indovance Inc, is an expert in Mechanical equipment design works with experience of around one and half decade in engineering design domain. How 3D Modeling made things smooth in the engineering?

The importance of 3D Modelling has gone up by various folds in the different fields. 3D Modeling technology is used in arenas like animation, architecture, mechanical engineering, etc. And 3D Modeling has made lives easy for so many people. Let us see how 3D Modeling has made things easier. In mechanical engineering, 3D Modeling has proved to be a blessing. Engineers use the technology to create 3D-models. These 3D models help people understand the dimensions of any object, otherwise, it is very difficult to interpret 2D sketches and designs. And 2D designs have got their own boundaries because if designs are complicated, they will be difficult to imagine or visualize. Hence, it is very essential to know how the object would look like in the reality. Engineers would prefer 3D models because conceptualization and prototyping are made very easy with them. 3D Modeling is certainly the best way to present and understand the object. People can look at the 3D model from different viewpoints and angles. This improves the understanding by a greater degree. Presentations are enhanced with 3D modeling. And this is certainly an innovative method. The time taken for any product to move from designing to a manufacturing stage has reduced like never before. The turnaround time has definitely gone down, yes. Moreover, these 3D models created are virtual versions of the actual objects that are going to be manufactured. These models can be cut across from different sections and can be rotated to have a better view from inside and outside as well. People in engineering domain has realized the fact that 3D modeling has made the product development very faster. You won’t believe that the costs have been controlled by leaps and bounds. The chances of committing errors have gone down strikingly.  And this has led to money saving. Any engineer who has worked with and without 3D modeling can tell you that the earlier methods were very time-consuming and costly. Moreover, there were far too many errors in those methods. 3D Modeling empowered with animation can create some best presentations. Working on complicated products, machines can be easily depicted with 3D modeling. A number of components can be shown in the 3D modeling along with the assembling or break-up of these parts. What is more important is that making changes in the colors, texture, forms, shapes, etc. is very easy. And this what engineers love. And these 3D models are inputs for the manufacturing unit. Machines manufacture real models after taking theses 3D virtual models as inputs. Therefore, in totality, the productivity will rise, along with the quality of the work. Engineering firms would partner with firms like Indovance for 3D Modeling services. Indovance is an outsourcing partner for many manufacturing and mechanical engineering firms.
