You can even chain-measure across multiple 3D planes.  Duplicating a Material & its Shared Assets With the new “Duplicate Material and Assets” option, you can duplicate a material. If you’re uncertain, always go with this choice. Duplicate from 2022 provides the same results as the alternative, “Duplicate Using Shared Assets.”  Cloud Paths to support Material Textures and Decals All images used for materials textures and decals in Revit 2022 must be local. This results in numerous broken link issues.  In Revit 2023, you can now use cloud pathways, which should cut down on the number of photos with broken links and make working remotely easier. Images stored in BIM 360 files will also function.  Activate Controls & Dimensions When you select certain Revit elements in 2022, control icons like pins are displayed. What’s new in AutoCAD 2023? This year’s AutoCAD update isn’t particularly ground-breaking, but the changes are sure to improve the workflow of regular AutoCAD users. Autodesk showcases its use of machine learning to help improve workflows based on how users interact with the advanced CAD software. This is especially visible in the new Macro Advisor feature — an addition to the existing My Insights feature, which used machine learning to help users streamline workflows in previous versions. Key new features and changes in Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2023. Traces The traces feature on the collaborate tab is a great way to track, and log redline markups. Add design change notes and markups without modifying your existing drawing using AutoCAD desktop, web, and mobile apps. You can add a markup to a trace created by another team member in AutoCAD 2023. It simplifies the traces. You can save markups in a single trace. Traces is an old feature. This feature was first introduced in AutoCAD 2022, but it was enhanced in AutoCAD 2023. Markup Import and Markup Assist Markup import allows users to import paper feedback by simply taking a quick snapshot of written annotations and selecting what they want to become a trace layer using AutoCAD’s mobile app. PDF files can be directly imported and users can change the opacity of the imported annotations to work with feedback added on top as a trace layer. Markup assist simplifies the process of adding changes and annotations to your design by recognizing written feedback and allowing users to insert it as text into a drawing with a few simple clicks. When working together with co-workers and reviewers, automatically import comments and incorporate changes into your designs, thereby minimizing additional drawing stages with this AutoCAD 2023 feature Macro Advisor If you haven’t yet created customized macros in AutoCAD to make your life a bit easier, Autodesk is about to do it for you. The My Insights tool in AutoCAD 2023 is being improved, and it will utilize machine learning to recognize when a user is performing repetitive tasks and subtly offer a macro to make it a little easier. The release notes for AutoCAD include a straightforward “copy rotate previous” command example in the context of putting seats around dining room tables. Autodesk claims that although there is a sizable list of handpicked macros and that it will continue to increase over time, consumers won’t be inundated with it all at once. Instead, only macros that are pertinent to the way the user uses AutoCAD will be displayed to them; for example, those that would simplify frequently performed tasks. Users may then easily save these macros to a list or the ribbon where they can be immediately used when necessary. The AutoCAD LISP API LISP (list processing) functions are now supported by Autodesk’s AutoCAD Web online DWG editor. Users have the option to modify and download LISP files, load routines to the drawing, and set LISP routines to run at startup. LISP routines in AutoCAD Web can be executed from the command line, much like in AutoCAD desktop. It’s good to see that AutoCAD 2023 version gives the AutoCAD web app some attention. It’s unclear if the cloud-based DWG application will stop being free to use for non-AutoCAD users. It temporarily means that free users can now access LISP functions. Count Finally, Count now supports text and hatches, and the functionality distinguishes between text and hatches despite having similar geometries. In terms of what is being counted and how users interact with counted objects, the Count feature has been improved to include selectable functionality. The count feature can now be customized by users, or they can use an existing boundary object to perform it within. Users can quickly choose any numbered object to make any necessary alterations after it has been completed. Users can pick counted objects in their entirety even after the conversation has ended thanks to the functionality that extends to count tables. Count automates the counting of blocks or objects in a specific area or across your entire drawing, with a menu to identify errors and navigate through your counted objects. Sheet Set Manager You can now open sheet sets faster than ever before thanks to the Sheet Set Manager. Sending and opening sheet sets to and from teammates are faster and safer when using the Autodesk cloud platform. Share Send controlled copies of your drawings to your team and colleagues, delegating access to those who only need to view and those who need to edit. Share your drawings with AutoCAD and save time. Push to Autodesk Docs Publish your CAD drawing sheets as PDFs from AutoCAD to Autodesk Docs to increase productivity and reduce steps. You can also use the AutoCAD web app to access your DWG files in Autodesk Docs from anywhere. Floating Windows View and edit two drawings in fully functional windows side by side or on multiple monitors at the same time. There is no need to launch another instance of AutoCAD. The ever so conservative construction industry has evolved over a period and 3D printing in construction is proving to be a new milestone in the industry. 3D printing in construction is the latest term when professor Behrokh Khoshnevis of the University of South Carolina attempted to build a wall using 3D printing techniques. 3D printing is now emerging as a new technology by completely whitewashing the traditional ways to construct. With 3D printing, it is possible to build a house in less than a day!! 3D printers are huge machines that can be programmed to work like humans.
