Carbon Analysis, AI updates, and more: Autodesk brings a host of features to its tools

With every decision, and every project undertaken, the AEC sector is pushing for sustainability. Whether it’s carbon analysis or using AI for informed decision-making, efforts contribute to the reduction of emissions from operations. This is not an individual endeavor but a collaborative global initiative.

Doing their part, Autodesk, the industry leader in AEC software solutions, has released a bunch of features to their tools to help teams enhance sustainability in their work. With an increasing focus on environmental impact, these advancements in Autodesk’s tools aim to empower teams to integrate sustainable practices seamlessly into their projects.

Let’s look at these new updates from Autodesk!

From Carbon Analysis feature to improved data accessibility

Here’s what Autodesk introduced to different tools. These advancements bring significant benefits to the AEC industry.

  • Total Carbon Analysis, a feature within the AEC Collection, introduces powerful capabilities for tracking a building’s carbon footprint from planning to detailed design stages. With features like Embodied Carbon Analysis in Autodesk Forma and upcoming enhancements in Autodesk Insight, architects gain insights into the carbon impact of their decisions, enabling informed choices to reduce their environmental footprint.
  • New integrations of ArcGIS Basemaps with Civil 3D and AutoCAD enhance geospatial data accessibility, aiding civil engineers in optimizing designs to minimize ecological disruption.
  • They have also introduced Autodesk Tandem, a digital twin solution for BIM Collaborate Pro subscribers. It allows AEC firms to offer clients a comprehensive digital representation of projects. With improved data utilization and easier collaboration facilitated by AutoCAD 2025’s Markup Import tool, teams can streamline workflows and enhance project efficiency.
  • Furthermore, they will bring AI updates to enhance their ML (Machine Learning) Deluge tool for InfoDrainage. The tool will offer enhanced interactivity, providing users with a more comprehensive experience when adjusting stormwater controls. As changes are made on the deluge map, the tool will dynamically update, instantly analyzing the impact on the drainage design. This automatic analysis runs in the background, allowing users to quickly grasp how their modifications affect the drainage system, enabling them to make informed decisions to optimize drainage designs efficiently.
  • AI updates to Smart Blocks tools in AutoCAD 2025 improve content reuse and standardization in drawings. The new Search and Convert feature will help you find things in your drawings quickly and turn them into different blocks. A new Object Detection tool will find things in your drawings and turn them into neat blocks without you having to do it manually.

These features offer essential tools for architects, engineers, and construction professionals striving for greener practices. Additionally, the introduction of Autodesk Tandem and AI updates across various tools demonstrates Autodesk’s dedication to facilitating collaboration, streamlining workflows, and improving efficiency.

With these innovations, Autodesk empowers teams to seamlessly integrate sustainable practices into their projects and contributes to a collective global effort towards a more environmentally conscious future
