AutoCAD Civil 3D 2023 Hits the Road – Key Features and Updates
The new features in all of the Autodesk products are always interesting to see. Autodesk has formally launched Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 along with the associated Autodesk Civil Infrastructure 2023, a group of products, which also includes: Project Explorer 2023 Grading Optimization 2023 Geotechnical Modeler 202 Subassembly Composer 2023 Infrastructure Parts Editor Autodesk Vehicle Tracking Infraworks 2023 Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS AEC Collection subscription is required to access several features, such as Project Explorer and Grading Optimization. Civil 3D 2023 does, however, come with several fantastic new features and capabilities. Let’s take a closer look. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2023 – Key Features and Updates This year, Autodesk focused on adding or repairing functionality in response to customer demands in addition to performance improvements. Let’s look at some of the essential details regarding this new edition of Autodesk Civil3D. Numerous new AutoCAD 2023 and Map3D 2023 graphics and printing performance improvements are featured in the new Civil 3D 2023, which may have an impact on your existing project work and processes. Let’s check out the new updated and key features Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 has to offer: Grading Optimization (GO) Given that Grading Optimization is one of the best new tools for Autodesk Civil 3D in a very long time, we are certain that there will be a tonne more information and updates in the future. The following new features are added to GO (Grading Optimization) 2023, which was released last year. Revival of non-colinear segments in Civil 3D 2023 – Feature lines frequently overlapped and were returned as “colinear feature lines” in earlier iterations of the software when the optimized surface was supplied to Civil 3D. The number of feature lines a customer must manage, and the drawing instability both decreased in 2023 when feature lines are returned as non-colinear. Notification Center – Conflicts between constraints are one of the details regarding the optimization process that are provided by the Notification Center, a new interface. Enhanced Convergence and Validation Graphs – Customers can use this information to track the development and effectiveness of the optimization thanks to these graphs. The graphs have been improved to offer more visibility and more beneficial support throughout the optimization process. Enhanced Progress Bar – The progress bar has been improved to display visual indicators of the optimization process’ present stage. Help Center – This new interface gives users access to user assistance resources such as the GO help system, basic workflow support, tutorials, and sample documents. Pressure Pipe Network A pressure network’s pipe run profile will only add grips to the reduced lengths rather than to all of the PVIs. This facilitates editing the profile. You can now choose to follow a different profile in a particular set of stations as an alternative. The property selected for a pressure plan part may also be displayed in the profile view label. Gravity pipe networks also fall under this. Some customer-requested enhancements are also added to the pressure pipe network in Civil 2023 which include: PVIs on the pipe run profile has been reduced to simply cut lengths and elbows. The dynamic column was eliminated from the Pipe Run Profile dialogue. The Pipe Run Profile Dialog now includes a Reference Profile. At PVIs, break cut lengths The tooltip’s text for “Cleanup PVIs” has been changed. Default cut length from feature settings should be used if there isn’t one in the parts list. Corridor Solid Property Set & Targeting Based on BIM requirements, Civil 3D 2023 expands the property set data for corridor solids. Additionally, it includes options for targeting filter corridors, multiple surfaces, and dynamic targeting of particular layers. The functionality has changed so that after choosing a layer as the target, all additional items added to that layer will be dynamically added as targets. Expanded corridor solids property set data Data for the property set is dynamically updated as the corridor changes. Even after a corridor revision, the solid handle ID remains. Targeting in a dynamic layer Tooltips in the Target Mapping dialogue box that are helpful Sort feature lines and alignments by character or name. Target several surfaces simultaneously Rail Switch & Crossings Enhancement – Utilize the US turnout catalog that is now part of Civil 3D and create rail can’t labels at each station along an alignment. The new turnout feature has been expanded to include custom inputs and now supports US standards. Make use of the US unique trackwork catalogs Replace the current catalog with a customized one. Any station site can produce a new cant information label. Subassembly Composer enhancements Now, any unsaved modifications will be indicated by an asterisk next to the file name. A new Auxiliary Curve node has also been added to facilitate the creation of auxiliary geometry. The ability to build an auxiliary curve object has been added (comparable to the auxiliary line and auxiliary point objects). Customers can generate temporary geometry to serve as the foundation for other design aspects using the auxiliary curve. An added indicator alerts users when modifications to the subassembly they are working in have not yet been saved. Project Explorer Enhancements The capabilities of Project Explorer have grown ever since they were first introduced in Civil 3D 2021.1. The 2023 version adds even more capability to reporting and tables by enabling the display of quantity totals for rows and columns as well as customized remarks. These values are shown in the Object tab and report when you enable the Total Cell setting. By setting the Total Cell to yes in the Object Sets, you can display the totals row for AutoCAD tables. The Edit Table Styles feature gives you complete control over the text size and row heights for tables. You can individually change the total rows and data rows’ sizes and texts in this window. Display totals in the Project Explorer dialogue box Create rows and columns for total quantities Control text size and row height Compare COGO points and parcels to feature lines Viewport Enhancements When you access a
